When the day you’ve dreamed of is finally here, you don’t want to be caught off guard or unprepared. As part of your wedding planning process, you should prepare for the morning of your wedding. Having a game plan ready before the big day arrives will make it easier for you to take care of all the little things while still being able to focus on the big-picture stuff and while also allowing yourself to celebrate this incredibly special occasion.

These are a few little details and tips you might consider incorporating into your routine on the day of your wedding:

• Set the alarm clock early. No matter how hectic the night before the wedding was, it is important for you to get a good night’s sleep and wake up early enough to get yourself ready for the ceremony.
• Dress casual. Of course, you will probably be wearing a beautiful gown as you walk down the aisle. But you won’t be wearing the gown for most of the day while you get ready for the ceremony. As you prepare throughout the day, you are going to want to be dressed in casual attire, which may include an athleisure outfit or even a robe!
• Hair and makeup. You will want to look your best at the ceremony. This means leaving enough time for your hairstylist and makeup artist to give you picture-perfect hair and makeup, or to do your own hair and makeup.
• Don’t forget the bridal party. Your bridesmaids are also going to need time to have their hair and makeup done. Since all of you may be using the same hairstylists and makeup artists, you should leave plenty of extra time for the bridesmaids and other members of the bridal party to be attended to.
• Have an emergency fund. Although it’s very likely that you will have set a budget for your wedding that accounts for everything you could possibly want at the ceremony and the reception, it might not be possible to anticipate an emergency on the day of the ceremony. That’s why it will help to have an emergency fund available, just in case a last-minute request or hire is necessary to make sure the wedding goes off without a hitch.
• Remember to eat. You need to stay energized throughout the day, and this will require you to eat food. Even if it’s just a snack here and there, make sure that you are getting enough nutrients as the day goes on. The same goes for drinking water: you need to stay hydrated, so make sure that a glass of water is never very far from you as you prepare for the ceremony.
• Take a deep breath and relax. If at any point on the day of your wedding you find yourself feeling overly stressed, you should take a deep breath and reflect on just how wonderful this day is going to be. Trust that all the hard work and preparation you’ve put in during the earlier weeks and months will pay off in the end, and let the wedding venue manager, planner, and other people around you do what they do best while you try to relax and enjoy your big day.
